My background

The heart of my work

Helping others (and myself!) navigate life’s ups and downs has been my lifelong passion.  I truly believe that our toughest challenges are pointers to our greatest life lessons, and to our emotional balance and strength. My mission is to support you, with therapeutic modalities that really work, and to not have to walk the ups or downs alone, or without expert support.

MY PERSONAL BACKGROUND;

A number of influences have led me to become a counsellor and therapist, and have strongly equipped me in my work. These influences include a lifelong interest in personal growth, and learning that our life challenges are key to our self-development and self-empowerment.
Support through these challenging times often feels both important and necessary. Part of my preparedness to offer counselling was my participation in many hours of personal psychotherapy, supervision and professional development.

Another significant influence has been my meditation practice, which I’ve engaged now for over thirty years. This has given me access to a world of understanding about the deeper issues in life. At times during my years as a counsellor I’ve taught meditation, and used it in various ways as a therapeutic tool. This has strongly influenced my counselling work in helping others to learn to breathe and relax deeply, and to use meditation to birth the creation of their own new reality.

My qualifications and approach,
and what you can expect

You deserve a counsellor who meets you with warmth and clarity. My approach is genuinely caring and grounded in professional experience and expertise - my qualifications include a Bachelor of Counselling, a Diploma of Holistic Counselling, Clinical Certification with the HeartMath Institute for managing stress and anxiety, as well as being a Certified Somatic Ecotherapy Guide.  My training in several of these, brings the healing power of the natural world into the support I offer.

For the first half af this year, 2026, I will only be working online or outdoors. Online sessions offer ultimate privacy, on your computer or phone in your own home or walking together on zoom. In special cases, I may offer home visits - ask me if you're interested. In outdoor or walk & talk sessions,  we'll be walking the beaches or trails of Ballina and surrounding towns and coastal areas —  on or by a beachor a river bank, or up on the headland overlooking the ocean. We'll be sitting on our towels or my blanket on the grass or sand, or on a bench, for some or most of our sessions, depending on your preferences, talking, breathing together while being with the world around us. We will work collaboratively to set intentions, build coping tools, and gently explore patterns. For walk & talk counselling, you can expect a welcoming rhythm: arrive, acknowledge country, ground, reflect, and leave - all with small, doable steps. Your pace, your boundaries, and your needs always lead the way. For somatic ecotherapy, the land is the therapist, and I will guide you into progressively more deeply connecting with your ancient roots and depth of relationship with the land.
